2. Install FFmpeg Plugin:

Thus, when you try to import any video file to strip audio, it is likely to give you an error message like the file cannot be imported. The resolution is to download and install the free version of the optional FFmpeg Library on your computer. The file can be found in the audacity tool itself. 3.Prepare Your Video File:

Open the video file in the Audacity software 

Now open the software, click on File> Open. From the dropdown Menu, select the video whose audio you wish to rip. Ensure that the File type row has the option ‘FFmpeg-compatible. If not selected, you can choose this option before selecting the video to import. Now click Open. This will automatically start the process of ripping Audio from the video and you would see an MPEG video file loaded. It is not the video but the audio file.

Export The File:

Now you can click on Open> Export. In the newly opened window, select the file type as MP3. Give it any name you desire and save the file.  You can now edit the file to your satisfaction using the software. Once satisfied, you can export it in MP3 or WAV file format.
